Jeff McCormack live in Dittigham, Germany

Growing up, Jeffrey McCormack was surrounded by almost every style of music imaginable.

His mother and aunts, (former USO performers) were fond of big band music. His uncle (a former professor of music at the Cornish School of the Arts) was into all types of jazz. His brother was into Led Zeppelin, Yes, Roxy Music and Kate Bush, and his sisters were into Blood Sweat & Tears, The Carpenters, The Bee Gees, Alice Cooper, and Earth Wind and Fire. The list goes on and on.

It was not until moving to Seattle in 1978 though, that Jeffrey got his first taste of what was to come. his first live KISS concert.

With images of Peter Criss swirling around in his head, Jeffrey launched into his school years honing his craft by taking every music class available at public school, and by forming a number of garage bands.

In 1985, Jeffrey became the assistant manager for the now infamous Music Bank Rehearsal Studios in Seattle. Working basically for his band's room rent, Jeffrey was surrounded by 60 rehearsal rooms, all filled, 24 hours a day, by Seattle's rock elite.

It was there that Jeffrey would meet with guitarist Jerry Cantrell, singer Layne Staley and keyboardist Brian Hermann to form what would later become "ALICE IN CHAINS".

In 1990 Jeffrey joined with former Q5 guitarist Rick Pierce, and vocalist Jonathan Scott K. to form "NIGHTSHADE", which released it's debut release on MUSIC FOR NATIONS titled "Dead of Night". This album received overwhelming critical acclaim, including Kerrang Magazine's highest rating of "5 K's". Nightshade would go on to open for many national acts such as Savatage, Kings of the Sun, Alias and Love/Hate.

Since 1992, Jeffrey has been featured on 42 CD's worldwide, performed all across the US with many different artists including Aaron Spiro (Sparrow Records), Linnae Reeves (Starsong Records) Brett Williams (Maranatha Records) Jon Blackstone (Rhythm House Records) and Bloodgood (Frontline Records) to name a few, and recently he returned from a sold out European tour with classic metal legends "HEIR APPARENT", and 5 sold-out dates in Russia with former Steve Miller / Doobie Brothers guitar great Jay "Bird" Koder.

Currently, Jeffrey is a very busy man, maintaining a busy performance and recording schedule, he's a private teacher and clinician, and is also currently in production of his first educational DVD titled "The Worship Drummer's Toolbox" to be released in the Summer of 2008...

Alan White of YES put it best after seeing Jeffrey and Nightshade open for "ALIAS":
"Great drummer! Lots of energy!"

Jeffrey resides in Seattle, WA.
